That kind of messaging works because it taps into our craving for versatility, one piece, multiple settings.

Lake’s Alice Nightgown is a hit thanks to its seersucker fabric that is airy but not see-through. Eileen West’s lace-trimmed gowns have a vintage charm that screams cottagecore. R. Vivimos’s $38 bohemian dress went viral for looking like something you would buy in a luxury resort boutique. And Hill House Home’s Ellie Nap Dress? It is now a cult piece worn everywhere from garden parties to actual weddings.

However, what is interesting is how different the vibes can be. Some styles lean toward conservative “trad wife” aesthetics, while others are styled in playful, even rebellious ways. Prada’s 2023 runway nightdresses paired with chunky Mary Janes showed just how subversive the look can get.

With the global sleepwear market expected to hit $24.3 billion by 2033, brands are leaning in hard. Gen Z and Millennials, who value both comfort and sustainability, are the ones pushing this growth. They see nightgowns as investment pieces, not just novelty buys.
