Nearly three decades after topping charts with "It Wasn't Me," Shaggy is back in the spotlight with a new album and a surprising stage role.

The 57-year-old artist, who also scored hits like "Angel" and "Boombastic," is set to release his upcoming record, "Lottery," offering fans a fresh mix of genres while staying true to his signature sound.

The album promises a versatile experience. Shaggy described it as music "you can dance to, you can cry to, you can get ready to." He emphasized his focus on hybrids—a combination of reggae beats and modern fusion rhythms—designed to bring joy and create memorable moments.

The album features collaborations with top artists, including Robin Thicke, Anthony Hamilton, Akon, and Aidonia, expanding the sonic landscape fans have come to love.

Shaggy shared insights into his work with Robin Thicke on "Looking Lovely," explaining how their voices combine to create a tropical, carefree energy. The song has been performed at F1 concerts and live shows, merging Shaggy’s reggae style with Thicke’s smooth pop vocals.

"Lottery" also features contributions from Jeremiah, Anthony Hamilton, Akon, and Aidonia, showcasing Shaggy’s desire to produce a full-length album that feels genuine rather than manufactured.

A New Chapter in Theater

Stepping into a new artistic arena, Shaggy plays the Ferryman in Sting’s musical "The Last Ship," inspired by Sting’s upbringing in a shipbuilding town in North East England.

Shaggy called the experience challenging and transformative, praising Sting’s knack for pushing collaborators into uncharted creative territory. Their friendship, formed during the 2018 album "44/876," combines mentorship with a strong sense of camaraderie, both on and off stage.

Recently, Shaggy and Sting performed a track from the musical on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," showing off Shaggy’s versatility beyond the studio.

He performed "Looking Lovely" alongside Robin Thicke on "Live with Kelly and Mark" and talked about their creative process on the "Sherri Show." The album highlights Shaggy’s dedication to making songs that connect with listeners emotionally, whether for reflection, celebration, or dancing.

From chart-topping singles to theater, Shaggy continues to grow as an artist while staying true to the signature sound that first drew fans in, balancing nostalgia with innovation.
